Description
Pine Live Edge Shelf
This pine live edge shelf is made from dry solid wood that has
been flattened, sanded, and coated. Shelf SH-002 measures
approximately 47.5 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 1.375 inches
thick. Use it at its supplied size or trim it to fit your
shelving project.
The surface preparation is complete, giving you a finished board
for a custom installation. Final sizing, drilling, and mounting
depend on your space and selected hardware. The natural live
edge adds an individual outline to the shelf, while the pine
provides a solid wood surface for your chosen display.

Finished Surface, Custom Installation
Drying, flattening, sanding, and coating have already been
completed. This shelf therefore starts with a prepared surface,
rather than the unfinished surface of a woodworking blank.
You can concentrate on the final dimensions and mounting
arrangement needed for your room.
A finished board still requires an installation plan.
Check the wall space, support positions, and intended use
before drilling or cutting. If the supplied length fits
your layout, you can retain it and preserve the existing
finished ends.
Planning Your Pine Live Edge Shelf
The approximately 9.5-inch width offers space to consider
picture frames, decorative objects, books, or plants whose
bases fit within the usable depth. Measure the items you
want to display and allow room around them. Their weight
should also be considered when choosing supports.
A natural edge can change the depth along the board.
Check the actual surface at the intended position of each
object, rather than assuming every point has the same
usable width. Choose the orientation that works best
with your layout and the shelf’s individual outline.
Before making changes, lay out the shelf in relation
to the available wall space and mounting locations.
Decide which face will be visible and mark the final
length only after checking those details. Planning
first helps preserve the natural edge you want to show.
Trimming to Fit Your Space
This board can be cut shorter if your project needs
less than the supplied 47.5-inch length. Measure
carefully, account for the saw cut, and support
the board securely. Use woodworking equipment suited
to the material and the cut you intend to make.
Cutting exposes wood that no longer has the existing
coating. Smooth the new end and apply a compatible
finish where required. Confirm the original coating
type before choosing a touch-up product, and check
the resulting color and sheen on a less visible area.
Reducing the depth may remove part of the natural
edge and change the appearance of the shelf.
Consider the final outline before making that cut.
Newly exposed surfaces will need appropriate preparation
and finishing before the completed shelf is used.
Choosing Mounting Hardware
Select brackets for the finished dimensions, intended
load, and wall construction. The 1⅜-inch thickness
must fit the requirements of your chosen mounting
system. In particular, concealed brackets can require
specific drilling depths and sufficient wood around
the mounting holes.
Do not assume the board has already been drilled
for your hardware. Plan the hole positions using
the actual supports and their instructions.
Check that mounting points engage sound wood
and that the supports suit the completed layout.
What Is Included?
One dry, flattened, sanded, and coated pine shelf
board. Brackets, screws, wall anchors, cutting
to your final size, and installation are not
included in this product listing.
No load rating is specified for the board.
The completed shelf’s capacity depends on the
shelf, supports, fasteners, wall construction,
and installation. Follow the mounting hardware
manufacturer’s instructions.
Care & Surface Protection
Remove dust with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive
cleaning pads. Confirm the coating type before
using cleaners or applying another finishing product.
Wipe up spills promptly and protect the surface
from prolonged moisture and excessive heat.
Follow the care guidance for the existing finish.
Natural wood can respond to environmental changes,
so choose a location suited to the intended use
and coating. Inspect the mounting arrangement periodically
and follow any maintenance guidance supplied with
your hardware.
