Description
Pine Live Edge Shelf
This pine live edge shelf is made from dry solid wood that
has been flattened, sanded, and coated. Shelf SH-001 measures
approximately 48 inches long, 6.5 inches wide, and 2 inches
thick. Its surface is prepared, while trimming and mounting
can be completed to suit your space.
Use the full four-foot length if it fits your layout, or cut
the shelf shorter for a custom installation. This is a finished
shelf board supplied without mounting hardware. Any cutting,
drilling, and installation required for your project should
be planned around the actual piece.

Finished Surface, Flexible Length
The drying, flattening, sanding, and coating stages have
already been completed. This gives you a prepared surface
rather than an unsanded blank. Final sizing remains flexible,
so you can plan the length around your wall, furniture,
or the objects you want to display.
Finished surface preparation does not mean the shelf has
been fitted to a particular room or mounting system.
Check your required dimensions before cutting or drilling.
Keep in mind that trimming removes the coating from
the newly exposed cut surface.
Planning Your Pine Live Edge Shelf
At approximately 6.5 inches wide, this is a relatively
narrow shelf. It can be considered for smaller decorative
objects, picture frames, or other items whose bases fit
comfortably within the usable depth. Measure those objects
before deciding on their placement.
The natural edge may vary along the length, so check
the actual surface where each object will sit. The
overall width is a guide to the piece rather than
a promise of identical depth at every point.
Leave suitable space around the items you display.
Choose the visible face and orientation before marking
the final length. Compare the shelf with the installation
space and the locations available for supports. A simple
layout made before cutting helps preserve the edge
details you want in the finished installation.
Trimming to Your Required Size
If the full 48-inch length does not suit your project,
the board can be cut shorter. Mark the required
length on the actual piece and account for the
saw cut. Use suitable woodworking equipment and
support the board securely during the work.
After cutting, smooth the new end and treat the
exposed wood with a compatible finish. Confirm the
existing coating type before selecting a touch-up
product. Matching color and sheen should be checked
on a less visible area before application.
Cutting the shelf to a narrower depth is a separate
design decision because it may remove part of
the live edge. Consider the finished outline before
making that change. Any newly exposed surface will
also need preparation and appropriate finishing.
Mounting Options
Select supports for the finished size, wall construction,
and intended load. The 2-inch thickness should be
checked against your hardware’s specifications. A
concealed mounting system may require particular
hole sizes, drilling depths, and support positions.
Do not assume that the shelf is already drilled
for your chosen brackets. Plan any holes using
the actual hardware and its instructions. Check
that fasteners and supports engage sound wood
and suit the installation arrangement.
What Is Included?
One dry, flattened, sanded, and coated pine shelf
board. Brackets, screws, wall anchors, cutting
to your final size, and installation are not
included in this product listing.
No load rating is specified. The completed shelf’s
capacity depends on the board, mounting hardware,
fasteners, wall construction, and installation.
Follow the hardware manufacturer’s instructions.
Care & Surface Protection
Remove dust with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive
cleaning pads. Confirm the coating type before
using cleaning products or applying another finish.
Wipe up spills promptly and protect the surface
from prolonged moisture and excessive heat.
Natural wood can respond to changes in its environment.
Choose an installation location suited to the
coating and intended use. Inspect the completed
installation periodically and follow the mounting
hardware’s maintenance guidance where provided.
